LAB 01 - DESIGN FOR AGING
Urban Test Model
Netherlands
The aim of the project was to create an urban model that allows for a simbiotic relationship between two distinct generations and to create a green living community designed around the concept of aging. The master plan has 3 distinct neighborhood zones each derived from a different level of integration between two generations. From assisted living in urban blocks on the south side to independent townhouses in the middle and a combined suburban living district to the north.
The master plan is centered around a green finger which plays the role of both an ecological and social spine for the community. The green finger also allows for a possible connection between surrounding communities or surrounding green spaces. The aim is to create a community that is pedestrian orientated and allows for a walkable experience for all its inhabitants. Through the use of a diversity of co-living parameters a series of typologies have been developed these can be applied as per market needs. Therefore a diverse and flexible master plan has been created.
